Off-Road the Sand Mountain Dunes
Rent a RZR and navigate 20,000 acres of open red sand dunes and technical rock crawling trails with views of the Arizona Strip.
Itinerary tips
- 1Book a four-hour rental window to allow enough time to traverse the dunes and reach the 'Top of the World' overlook.
- 2Pack a high-quality dust mask or gaiter and polarized goggles to protect your face from fine red silt during high-speed runs.
- 3Download the Avenza Maps app to navigate the 20,000-acre OHV area, as cell service is intermittent and trails are not always marked.
- 4Enter through Sand Hollow State Park and ensure your rental or personal vehicle has a current Utah OHV permit displayed.
- 5Bring at least one gallon of water per person and high-energy snacks, as there are no services or shade structures once you enter the dunes.
- 6Lower your tire pressure to roughly 10-12 PSI if bringing a personal 4x4 to ensure traction in the deep, soft sand sections.
