Walk the Mill Canyon Dinosaur Tracksite
Observe hundreds of authentic Jurassic-era dinosaur footprints preserved in the rock on a family-friendly interpretive boardwalk.
Itinerary tips
- 1Plan for a 30-45 minute visit to fully read the interpretive signs and walk the 0.6-mile loop.
- 2Drive approximately 15 miles north of Moab on US-191 and look for the Mill Canyon turnoff near mile marker 141.
- 3Bring polarized sunglasses to help reduce glare on the light-colored rock when spotting the subtle tracks.
- 4Check the weather before heading out, as the 2-mile dirt access road can become impassable for passenger cars after heavy rain.
- 5Wear closed-toe shoes to protect your feet from the desert scrub and hot sand surrounding the boardwalk.
- 6Download an offline map of the area, as cellular service is notoriously spotty once you turn off the main highway.
