Walk the Mill Canyon Dinosaur Trail
Explore an outdoor museum where you can see preserved Jurassic-era bones still embedded in the rock on a flat, family-friendly interpretive loop.
Itinerary tips
- 1Plan for about 45 to 60 minutes to thoroughly read the interpretive signs and spot the various bone fragments along the loop.
- 2Drive approximately 15 miles north of Moab on Highway 191 and turn onto the dirt access road, which is usually passable for passenger cars in dry weather.
- 3Bring polarized sunglasses to help reduce glare on the rock surfaces, making it easier to distinguish fossilized bone textures.
- 4Wear closed-toe shoes as the trail is sandy and contains small rocks, even though the elevation gain is minimal.
- 5Download an offline map or take a screenshot of directions beforehand, as cellular service can be unreliable once you turn off the main highway.
- 6Use the designated vault toilet at the trailhead parking area, as there are no other facilities along the interpretive path.
