Hike to the Wind Caves

HikingModerateSpringSummerYear-round

Trek up the north side of Logan Canyon to explore triple-arched limestone wind-eroded alcoves overlooking the canyon floor.

Itinerary tips

  • 1Allocate approximately 2 to 3 hours to complete the 4-mile round-trip journey and explore the cave arches.
  • 2Pack at least two liters of water and wear sun protection, as the switchbacks are south-facing and lack significant shade.
  • 3Locate the trailhead directly across Highway 89 from the Malone Guibill Campground entrance, roughly 7 miles up Logan Canyon.
  • 4Arrive before 9:00 AM on weekends to secure a spot in the small paved pull-off parking area before it reaches capacity.
  • 5Wear footwear with aggressive tread to safely navigate the steep, loose limestone sections near the cave entrance.
  • 6Bring a camera with a wide-angle lens to capture the triple arches with the canyon floor visible through the openings.
