Hike the Wind Caves Trail
Climb a series of switchbacks to reach a massive natural triple-arch and limestone amphitheater overlooking the sheer walls of Logan Canyon.
Itinerary tips
- 1Plan for a two-hour round trip to cover the 3.5-mile out-and-back trail at a steady pace.
- 2Pack at least one liter of water per person as the south-facing slope offers very little shade during the ascent.
- 3Park at the designated trailhead lot directly across Highway 89 from the Malone Guymon (formerly Crimson) Campground.
- 4Wear footwear with aggressive tread to safely navigate the loose limestone and steep drop-offs at the cave entrance.
- 5Arrive before 8:00 AM on weekends to secure a parking spot, as this is the most popular trail in Logan Canyon.
- 6Walk all the way through the arches to the limestone 'balcony' for the best panoramic views of the China Wall formation.
