Itinerary tips

• 1Arrive before 9:00 AM to secure a parking spot at the popular Jenny's Canyon or Sand Dunes trailheads.
• 2Allow at least three to four hours to explore the diverse landscapes including the lava tubes and the petrified dunes.
• 3Pay the $15 per vehicle day-use fee at the south entrance station or use your Utah State Parks annual pass.
• 4Bring at least two liters of water and wear closed-toe shoes to navigate the abrasive volcanic rock safely.
• 5Download offline maps or grab a paper map at the gate as cell service is unreliable within the canyon floor.
• 6Visit the Petrified Dunes at sunset for the most dramatic lighting on the orange and white sandstone layers.
