Drive the Kolob Fingers Scenic Road
Escape to the less-visited northwest corner of Zion for high-altitude views of massive crimson box canyons and sheer 2,000-foot peaks.
Itinerary tips
- 1Budget approximately 1.5 to 2 hours for the 5-mile drive and brief stops at the various overlooks.
- 2Access the park via Interstate 15 at Exit 40, roughly 40 miles north of St. George.
- 3Bring a valid Zion National Park pass or a credit card to pay the entrance fee at the Kolob Canyons Visitor Center.
- 4Pack a light jacket even in summer, as the 6,000-foot elevation makes this area significantly cooler than St. George.
- 5Walk the short, paved Timber Creek Overlook Trail at the end of the road for a panoramic view of Mt. Trumbull.
- 6Download offline maps before arrival, as cellular service is notoriously spotty once you enter the canyon.
