Squeeze Through Peek-A-Boo and Spooky Gulch
AdventureChallengingSpringFallWinter
Navigate the famous non-technical slot canyons of the Dry Fork Wash, featuring tight squeezes and swirling sandstone architecture.
Itinerary tips
- 1Plan for a 3-4 hour round trip to complete the 3.5-mile loop, including the hike down the Dry Fork wash.
- 2Drive a high-clearance vehicle to access the trailhead via Hole-in-the-Rock Road, which can be impassable after heavy rain.
- 3Pack a small daypack that you can carry or drag, as regular backpacks are too wide for the 10-inch squeezes in Spooky Gulch.
- 4Enter Peek-A-Boo first to navigate the 12-foot climb at the entrance, then loop clockwise into Spooky Gulch for the easiest navigation.
- 5Check the weather forecast at the Escalante Interagency Visitor Center before heading out, as slot canyons are deadly during flash floods.
- 6Pay the nominal entrance fee at the self-service kiosk located at the trailhead parking area.
