Paddle Kayaks to Antelope Canyon

AdventureModerateSpringSummerFall

Launch from Antelope Point Marina to explore the narrow, water-filled lower reaches of the world’s most famous slot canyon.

Itinerary tips

  • 1Arrive at Antelope Point Marina public boat launch at least 30 minutes early to secure parking and complete the mandatory Glen Canyon National Recreation Area entry fee payment.
  • 2Allocate 4 to 5 hours for the round trip, which includes a 2-mile paddle each way and time to beach your kayak for the mile-long interior hike.
  • 3Pack a dry bag for your camera and hiking shoes, as you will need to transition from water to sand to reach the narrowest parts of the canyon.
  • 4Stay close to the canyon walls while paddling the main channel to avoid the wake generated by large motorized tour boats.
  • 5Download offline maps of the Lake Powell shoreline because cellular reception is non-existent once you enter the high-walled corridors.
  • 6Bring a minimum of two liters of water per person and high-energy snacks, as the physical exertion in the desert sun is significant.
