Pick Fruit at Capitol Reef Orchards

Food & DrinkEasySummerFall

Enjoy fresh, seasonal fruit from historic orchards within Capitol Reef National Park. A delightful and tasty experience unique to the park.

Itinerary tips

  • 1Check the National Park Service 'Fruit Hotline' at (435) 425-3791 daily for current updates on which specific orchards are open for picking.
  • 2Bring your own sturdy bags or baskets to transport your harvest, as the park does not consistently provide containers.
  • 3Look for the 'U-Pick' signs and use the provided scales to weigh your fruit and pay via the self-service fee stations.
  • 4Allow at least 60 to 90 minutes to enjoy the stroll through the historic Fruita district and select the best produce.
  • 5Wear closed-toe shoes and high-SPF sun protection, as the orchard grass can be uneven and the high-altitude sun is intense.
  • 6Eat as much fruit as you want for free while inside the orchard fences; you only pay for what you carry out.
