Kayak to Antelope Canyon from Lake Powell
Paddle through narrow sandstone corridors where the water meets the red rock, then hike into the slot canyon sections. The lake crowds thin significantly in October, offering a serene, quiet experience.
Itinerary tips
- 1Launch your kayak from Antelope Point Marina public boat ramp rather than Wahweap to save over four miles of paddling.
- 2Plan for a four to five-hour round trip to allow for two hours of paddling and sufficient time to hike the canyon narrows.
- 3Bring a lightweight dry bag for your hiking shoes and camera to keep gear protected during the transition from water to land.
- 4Pay the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area entry fee or use an America the Beautiful pass at the park entrance station.
- 5Secure your kayak well above the water line at the canyon's end to prevent it from drifting away if water levels fluctuate.
- 6Pack at least two liters of water and high-energy snacks, as there are no services once you leave the marina area.
