Walk the Memory Grove Park Trail
Enter the mouth of City Creek Canyon to see memorials and a scenic creek path that becomes a tunnel of red maple leaves in October.
Itinerary tips
- 1Plan for 60 to 90 minutes to fully explore both the manicured memorial grounds and the paved canyon path.
- 2Park for free along Canyon Road, but arrive before 10:00 AM on weekends as these spots fill quickly.
- 3Bring a light jacket even in summer, as the canyon walls and creek create a natural downdraft that is significantly cooler than downtown.
- 4Wear comfortable walking shoes or sneakers, as the path is fully paved and accessible for all fitness levels.
- 5Walk past the Meditation Chapel to find the trailhead for the Freedom Trail if you want a dirt-path loop with more elevation.
- 6Leash your dog in the main park, but utilize the designated off-leash area near the creek for pet socialization.
