Climb the Via Ferrata at Snowbird
Scale vertical rock faces using fixed cables and iron rungs for a high-alpine adrenaline rush without needing professional climbing skills.
Itinerary tips
- 1Book your guided tour at least 48 hours in advance through the Snowbird Activity Center as spots are limited and walk-ins are rarely available.
- 2Wear sturdy, closed-toe hiking shoes with good grip and bring lightweight, fingerless gloves to protect your hands while gripping the iron rungs.
- 3Allocate at least three to four hours for the entire experience, which includes the safety orientation, tram ride, and the actual climb.
- 4Park for free in the main Snowbird Center lots and check in at the level 3 desk near the Aerial Tram entrance.
- 5Pack a small, secure hydration pack rather than a handheld bottle, as you will need both hands free to clip into the safety cables at all times.
- 6Check the mountain weather forecast the morning of your climb, as afternoon thunderstorms often trigger temporary closures of high-alpine activities.
