Raft the Colorado River

AdventureModerateSpringSummer

Enjoy a scenic float trip or an exhilarating white-water rafting adventure on the mighty Colorado River, surrounded by towering canyon walls.

Itinerary tips

  • 1Book a guided half-day or full-day trip leaving from Highway 128 to avoid the logistical challenge of hauling your own gear and arranging shuttles.
  • 2Pack high-SPF waterproof sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat with a chin strap to combat the intense canyon reflection.
  • 3Wear quick-drying synthetic clothing and sandals with heel straps, as cotton stays wet and heavy while flip-flops are easily lost in the current.
  • 4Plan for at least four hours for a standard Fisher Towers run, which accounts for safety briefings, shuttle time, and river miles.
  • 5Secure all electronics in a rented or provided dry bag, as even 'flat water' sections involve splashing that can damage phones.
  • 6Bring at least one liter of water per person in a reusable bottle that can be clipped to the raft to prevent it from rolling overboard.
