Canyoneer through Medieval Chamber

AdventureModerateSpringFall

Rappel 90 feet into a hidden sandstone slot canyon and finish with a spectacular descent next to Morning Glory Natural Bridge.

Itinerary tips

  • 1Book a guided trip unless you are highly experienced in multi-stage rappels and possess your own 60-meter ropes and hardware.
  • 2Allocate at least 4 to 5 hours for the full approach, technical descent, and the hike out via Grandstaff Canyon.
  • 3Pack three liters of water per person and high-energy snacks, as the desert heat intensifies during the final exposed hike.
  • 4Park one vehicle at the Grandstaff Trailhead and use a second shuttle vehicle to reach the drop-off point on Sand Flats Road.
  • 5Wear durable, long pants and approach shoes with aggressive grip to protect your skin from sandstone abrasion.
  • 6Carry a waterproof bag or dry sack for electronics in case of seasonal pools at the bottom of the rappels.
