Mountain Bike the Jardine Juniper Trail
AdventureChallengingSummerYear-round
Ride or hike to the oldest Rocky Mountain Juniper tree in the world, estimated to be over 1,500 years old.
Itinerary tips
- 1Plan for a 10-mile round trip with roughly 2,000 feet of elevation gain that typically takes three to five hours depending on your pace.
- 2Carry at least two liters of water and high-energy snacks, as there are no water sources along the ridge.
- 3Access the trailhead via the Wood Camp turn-off in Logan Canyon, located about 12 miles up Highway 89 from Logan.
- 4Arrive at the small parking lot before 8:00 AM on weekends to secure a spot without having to park on the highway shoulder.
- 5Choose the 'Shady Trail' fork on the way up and the 'Sunny Trail' fork for the descent to optimize for temperature and views.
- 6Bring a bike lock or have someone stay with the bikes at the final spur, as the last few hundred yards to the tree are foot-traffic only.
