Hike to the Crimson Trail Cliffs
HikingModerateSpringSummerYear-round
Traverse the China Row ridge to look directly down onto the Logan River and the colorful 'China Wall' rock formations.
Itinerary tips
- 1Plan for a 2-3 hour round trip to complete the full 4.3-mile loop including the steep initial ascent.
- 2Navigate to the Wind Cave parking lot in Logan Canyon, as this serves as the primary trailhead access point.
- 3Carry at least two liters of water, as the exposed ridge line offers very little shade and reflects heat from the rocks.
- 4Wear footwear with aggressive tread to safely manage the loose limestone sections and narrow cliff edges.
- 5Pack a picnic to enjoy at the midway summit for the best panoramic views of the Wind Caves across the canyon.
- 6Download an offline map or use a GPS app since cell service becomes unreliable once you enter the lower canyon floor.
