Scuba Dive in the Desert
Utilize the Homestead Crater’s warm waters for the only warm-water scuba diving destination in the continental United States.
Itinerary tips
- 1Reserve your diving slot weeks in advance as the Homestead Crater has strict occupancy limits for safety and visibility.
- 2Bring your certification card and a towel, but leave your thick cold-water wetsuit behind since the water stays at a constant 90-96 degrees.
- 3Plan for at least 90 minutes on-site to accommodate the gear-up process, safety briefing, and the 40-minute scheduled dive time.
- 4Utilize the complimentary parking lot at the Homestead Resort and follow the signs to the wooden tunnel entrance built into the limestone dome.
- 5Arrive 20 minutes early to navigate the resort grounds and complete your liability waivers before your scheduled soak or dive.
- 6Combine your dive with a visit to the nearby Midway Main Street for local Swiss-inspired pastries to refuel after the high-altitude exertion.
