Mountain Bike the WOW Trail

AdventureChallengingSummerYear-round

Ride the 'Wasatch Over Wasatch' trail for a technical but rewarding descent through Gambel oak and pine forests with heavy hits of fall color.

Itinerary tips

  • 1Arrange a vehicle shuttle between the Pine Canyon trailheads to avoid a grueling 2,000-foot paved climb back to the start.
  • 2Carry at least two liters of water and basic repair tools, as the trail is remote with long stretches between access points.
  • 3Download offline maps or use GPS, as the intersecting trails near the Wasatch Mountain State Park boundary can be confusing.
  • 4Purchase a Wasatch Mountain State Park day pass or display your Utah State Parks annual pass at the trailhead parking lot.
  • 5Plan for a three to five-hour ride depending on your technical skill and whether you choose to ride the full loop or a point-to-point.
  • 6Park at the lower lot near the campground if you want to end your ride with a quick cool-down soak in the nearby Homestead Crater.
