ATV Through Snake Creek Canyon

AdventureModerateSummerYear-round

Rent a side-by-side and roar up the rugged backcountry trails to reach high ridges overlooking Brighton Resort and the Cottonwood Canyons.

Itinerary tips

  • 1Reserve your rental from a Midway-based outfitter at least one week in advance during peak summer weekends.
  • 2Allocate a full four-hour block to reach the 10,000-foot ridge line and enjoy a picnic overlooking the Big Cottonwood Canyon headwaters.
  • 3Bring a neck gaiter and goggles to protect against the heavy granite dust kicked up by lead vehicles on the trail.
  • 4Pack a heavy windbreaker even in July, as temperatures drop significantly once you reach the exposed summit ridges.
  • 5Park your transport vehicle at the primary Snake Creek trailhead parking lot, ensuring you have a valid Wasatch Mountain State Park pass.
  • 6Download offline maps of the Wasatch Mountain State Park trail system, as cellular reception is non-existent once you enter the canyon.
