Kayak Antelope Canyon (Lake Powell)

AdventureModerateSpringSummerFall

Paddle through the mesmerizing slot canyon of Antelope Canyon on Lake Powell. Marvel at the winding sandstone walls and ethereal light.

Itinerary tips

  • 1Launch your kayak from Antelope Point Marina public boat ramp, ensuring you have your Glen Canyon National Recreation Area pass displayed.
  • 2Allow at least 4 to 5 hours for the round trip to account for the two-mile paddle each way and time spent hiking the dry slot canyon at the end.
  • 3Pack a dry bag with plenty of water, sunscreen, and sturdy hiking shoes, as the terrain at the back of the canyon is sandy and rocky.
  • 4Stay mindful of motorized boat wakes in the main channel by turning your kayak bow directly into waves to avoid capsizing.
  • 5Arrive at the marina by 7:30 AM to secure a parking spot and beat the heavy midday rental traffic and heat.
  • 6Download offline maps of the lake before arriving, as cellular service is extremely unreliable once you enter the canyon walls.
