Summit Bloods Lake Trail
HikingModerateSummerFall
A popular, relatively short hike leading to a high-alpine lake that mirrors the surrounding evergreens and red rocks.
Itinerary tips
- 1Navigate to the Bloods Lake Trailhead located near the summit of Guardsman Pass, roughly 20 minutes from Park City's Main Street.
- 2Arrive before 8:00 AM on weekends as the paved parking lot is small and street parking is strictly prohibited and ticketed.
- 3Allocate approximately 2 to 3 hours to complete the 2.8-mile round-trip trek and enjoy a picnic at the shoreline.
- 4Bring a light jacket even in July, as the elevation at the lake exceeds 9,000 feet and temperatures are significantly cooler than in the valley.
- 5Download an offline map before departing, as cellular service is highly unreliable once you begin the ascent up Guardsman Pass Road.
- 6Pack a leash if bringing a dog, but remember that pets are strictly forbidden from entering the water to protect the local watershed.
