Climb at First Dam

OutdoorModerateSpringSummerYear-round

Join the local student crowd for bouldering and slacklining at the mouth of Logan Canyon, right where the river enters the valley.

Itinerary tips

  • 1Park in the free designated lot at Canyon Entrance Park (First Dam) located right off Highway 89.
  • 2Bring a crash pad and a spotter as the landing areas can be uneven near the water’s edge.
  • 3Plan for about 2 to 3 hours to cycle through the popular bouldering problems and watch the slackliners.
  • 4Walk the pedestrian bridge across the Logan River to access different angles and warmer rock faces.
  • 5Carry a chalk bag and comfortable approach shoes, as the approach is less than five minutes from your car.
  • 6Visit the nearby Aggie Ice Cream shop after your session for the quintessential local post-climb treat.
