Climb the Memorial Hill Lookout

ScenicEasySpringSummerYear-round

Walk or drive up this circular hill dedicated to veterans to gain a 360-degree vantage point of the entire Heber Valley and Wasatch Mountain Range.

Itinerary tips

  • 1Park at the base of the hill off River Road where there is a designated gravel area for visitors.
  • 2Allocate 30 to 45 minutes to leisurely walk the spiral path to the summit and read the commemorative plaques.
  • 3Bring a light windbreaker even on warm days, as the summit is exposed and often significantly breezier than the valley floor.
  • 4Carry binoculars to spot the historic Heber Valley Railroad train or wildlife moving through the nearby Provo River corridor.
  • 5Visit during the 'Golden Hour' just before sunset to see the Wasatch mountains glow in deep orange and purple hues.
  • 6Ensure your camera is ready for the panoramic shot of the 'Swiss Alps of Utah' framed by the nearby Timpanogos massif.
